South Carolina educators, wake up and read the feed! What can I do to make you people understand that the DEN is where it is happening?! Every time someone asks me about my personal learning network, I proudly stand and say I am a DEN Star. I have a busy family and intense job but I make time to read blog post, glance at Pins, and follow facebook pages of DEN friends. Through the DEN I have networked with amazing educators like Steve Dembo, Kathy Schrock, Alan November, Michael Wesch, and Chris Dede. I would have never had the opportunity to meet these people, let alone pick their brains and discuss pedagogy, had it not been for this community. The Discovery Educator Network has always been on the cusps of educational technology and I learn so many innovative techniques from this group of geeks and gurus. I am ashamed to say that to this point, my contributions to the Network have only been in Face to Face events and summer institutes. This year I have learned that the online community has it going on. They have many ways to connect and I can make this PLN work for me and my schedule. I usually sneak in a blog on my phone while I brush my teeth before bed or look at pins on Pinterest while my husband does the dishes.
So South Carolina, if you are looking for a PLN get connected to the Discovery Educator Network. Whether addicted to Pinterest, flutter for Twitter, or freak over Facebook be DENthusiastic about this geeky community and what it can do for your classroom.
