Wow, what a whirlwind trip! School just finished for me on Friday and I was on my way to Pasadena, CA and the Jet Propulsion Lab (JPL) for the landing of the Phoenix Mars Rover. As an Earth Science teacher and former History teacher, I was thrilled to be given the opportunity to be one of the invited guests to this momentus event! I was able to take some pictures and short video of the moments of entry into Martian airspace, landing on the Martian soil and then again for the first photos to show us the Polar region on Mars. Much thanks to Discovery for the outstanding opportunity and the once in a lifetime experience. I’m trying to get my pictures and video clips downloaded to share here and thinking of the many ways I can use this as I start my science classes next year.
Stay tuned for video, pictures and more thoughts!
Well, I just completed my first ever, state level technology presentation. I was a bit apprehensive, but the folks who came to my session were wonderful. After some initial talking, I found that I needed to do a bit of a change to my presentation, as there were several who were having problems in accessing US from our state website. I was thrilled to not only share US with them, and of course, DEN, but to also assist in getting some folks back into the Discovery use mode. I’m already starting to think of presentations that I could develop for next year’s conference.
I’m also really thrilled to have just learned that my school is paying my registration for NECC. This will be my first and I’m excited to be going back to San Antonio…. I grew up there and left about 18 years ago. I’m really looking forward to the conference and can’t wait to meet more DEN folks there!!
Wow, I just found some time to read through the state blogs and was I thrilled! I have been soooo busy, as I’m sure we all have been, that I haven’t taken the time to visit the blogs of the states and other blog writers. I’ve missed out on a lot and I want to thank all of you for giving me some wonderful ideas to refresh myself and my teaching as I go into the final quarter of the year. I appreciated some of the great website referrals which were given and I can’t wait to go out and give them a try. Thanks to all of you for your posts!
Hello and Welcome to my blog page! I am thrilled to be part of the Arizona DEN LC and really thrilled to work on ideas here in Arizona to increase our DEN membership. I’m really up to Lance’s challenge of doubling our membership and getting the AZ DEN into full swing. If any of you from other LCs have any ideas you have used and would like to share, please let me know.
