Three more VoiceThread

Digital Storytelling Day ???? + 1

We spent 90 minutes in computer lab today working on PowerPoints for our partner dialogs.  My students are very familiar with PowerPoint, so there was no learning curve to overcome.  The students created their title slide as well as three to four illustrations for their stories.  Many students wanted to just put as many pictures as possible on a slide.  One group was very selective in their pictures.  Without any prompting from me, this particular set of students chose four pictures for their pages.  They then placed them strategically on the page so they were aesthetically pleasing.  To overcome the delimna of too many pictures on one page, we decided to limit the number of pictures on a page to 4.  Next week, we will attempt to finish the PowerPoints so we can start recording the narration.

Here are more VoiceThread projects, up and running

Digital Storytelling Day ?????

We have fallen off track on finishing our Digital Storytelling projects.  On Thursday, we will work for an hour and a half on our projects in the computer lab.  The writing of the scripts - with correct punctuation - has taken us off my original time line.  (But, I guess being a good teacher means I have to be flexible.)  We will start the visual part of our stories on Thursday.  I have opted to use PowerPoint as my students already know this program.  They will be creating 5 slides for their stories.  I am getting anxious and excited about these projects.

While working on these projects, we have also taken on another project in Science.  The students have learned about the life cycle of the flower.  Then, we watched a video on Eric Carle and his method of making illustrations.  The students created paper like Eric Carle and then created pictures of each step of the plant life cycle.  Once they were done, I scanned their pictures onto digital format.  Then, the students created VoiceThread slide shows.  Today, my first group finished.  I posted the results in the previous post.  Hopefully, it worked correctly.  I will have to wait until I get home to see what it looks like as our school filters the embedded VoiceThread.
