It is my pleasure to announce the names of several teachers in the Illinois and Iowa region who have recently been accepted into the new Discovery Educator Network. All of the people listed below are leaders in the use of multimedia resources in their schools, and I am excited by the expertise and experience that each person brings to the Network. Please join me in welcoming these outstanding teachers to the Network:
Barb Baumann: Barb is a teacher at Fieldcrest Elementary School in Minonk, Illinois, and has also taught several technology-related classes as a part of the Fieldcrest Academy in her district.
Becky Bazzetta: Becky teaches 6th Grade at Grundy Elementary School in Morton, Illinois, and has found a variety of innovative ways to use unitedstreaming resources in her classroom.
Joe Brennan: Joe has been a Spanish teacher and A.V. Coordinator at Niles West High School for several years and now serves as the Visual Literacy Facilitator in District 219 in Skokie, Illinois.
Christopher Haruska: Christopher teaches mathematics at St. Monica in Chicago and also conducts technology training on topics such as PowerPoint and ActivBoard for other teachers in his school.
Samantha McKee: Samantha teaches 3rd Grade at Lincoln Elementary School in Morton, Illinois and has explored several different approaches to learning so that her students develop a love for learning.
Bette Nelson: Bette is a 4th grade teacher at Jefferson Elementary School in Morton, llinois, and uses her web pages and unitedstreaming resources to assist her in her teaching.
Marcia Powell: Marcia is a high school science teacher in the West Delaware County Community School District in Iowa and has been active in school and state technology projects.
Melissa Spencer: Melissa teaches science courses at North High School in Des Moines, Iowa, and has been an advocate for the use of digital multimedia resources at her school.
These teachers represent the first members of what I envision to be a very dynamic and exciting group of teachers and technology specialists in our region.
