The 12th annual Illinois Education & Technology Conference was held at the Crowne Plaza Convention Center in Springfield on November 17 and 18, and I was pleased to see many Illinois DEN members at our presentation and at the Discovery booth in the Exhibit Hall. I was joined by Chris Ryan and Joanne Hayes, the unitedstreaming sales representatives who serve all users in Illinois.
DEN Reception: We had a large turnout for our reception that was planned to honor those educators who had been accepted in the Discovery Educator Network and to share information about the program to the others in the audience. Among the people enjoying the good conversations and appetizers at the reception were current DEN members Lori Abrahams, Joe Brennan, Martin Hobbs, Lisa Miller, Meg Ormiston, and Patricia Rezba. Several other new applicants joined us for the celebration and they have since been added as new members of the DEN. Thanks to everyone who attended for making this an enjoyable evening.
In Focus Drawing: As advertised, a drawing for an LCD projector was held at the DEN reception, and the lucky winner is Allen Lisnich, a teacher at Madison Junior High School. Congratulations to Allen and I am confident that he and his colleagues will find creative and effective ways to use this projector as they help their students unleash the power of digital multimedia resources. I am hoping that he will give us an update soon.
Join the DEN: If you are interested in joining this growing network of educators, there is still time to get your applications submitted before the holidays. If you send in your materials in the next week or two, you should receive your Welcome Kit before your holiday break. Just click here to view the Discovery Educator Network website and then click on the “Apply” link to complete the application. A second InFocus LCD projector drawing will be held at the end of January, and again, the names of all educators who have been accepted into the Illinois DEN by the date of the drawing will be entered.
