St. Lucie County teachers developed some very creative Unit Plans during DEN Camp Monday and Tuesday. I had such a great time with these 23 teachers as we learned so many new tricks together.
Carole Gooden, our very first DEN member in Florida, saw the value of our DEN Camp training and just knew her St. Lucie teachers would be able to enjoy an intensive experience delving deeper into the NEW unitedstreaming. Carole had the joy of taking the teachers through the NEW unitedstreaming. I heard a lot of ohhhhs and ahhhhs as she unvielded new features like the breadcrumb trail, My Content, emailing a friend, printer friendly version and much, much more.
Jeanne Moniz, one of the District trainers for unitedstreaming, did a tremendous job showing us how embed and hyperlink video. Jeanne taught me one of the coolest tricks. If you like to put more than one window side by side on your screen, check this out. I usually resize my windows and move them side by side with my cursor until I get them just right. Jeanne showed us how to right click on the task bar at the bottom of a Windows screen and let Windows do it automatically. Too cool!
I was able to show the teachers how to use the images and their citations in unitedstreaming by dragging and dropping them into PowerPoint and how to create Photo Story movie with those images. Some amazing educational videos were created and are ready to go for the 2006-2007 school year.
My absolute favorite part was when the teachers presented their Unit Plans. Each one was so unique and totally enhanced with digital images and videos. Topics included: the Digestive System, Landforms, Medieval Times, Geometry, Rules, Solar System, Pre-Algebra, Healthy Teeth, Our Changing Planet, The Cell Cycle, Intro to Computers, the American Revolution, Global Satellites, Giant Animals of Guyana, Weather, Matter and more. Isn’t the variety amazing?
This group of St. Lucie teachers certainly are unitedstreaming experts now! Can’t wait to see how many join us in the DEN. I count it a privilege to be able to serve these great teachers and look forward to our second camp June 26th and 27. DEN_Camp_2006_schedule.pdf
