Rock Our World

Rockourworld

Here’s another special program that is sure to energize you and your colleagues. The next installment in the monthly EDTechConnect series features another STAR Discovery Educator–Carol Anne Maguire.

On Wednesday October 18, EdTechConnect will bring you a presentation that has rocked educators around the world.  Carol Anne Maguire will be sharing Rock Our World, an international project involving 18 countries spanning the entire globe.  Students and teachers come together to learn about each other through podcasting, movie making, and face-to-face video conferencing.  This year’s project focuses on the Sun and is sponsored by Discovery Education, Apple, NASA, Smart Board, and the City of Anaheim.  Experience this innovative global collaboration and discover how you can do the same with your own students.

Carol Anne McGuire has taught blind and visually impaired students for the past 16 years. Each year, through her leadership, this unlikely group of students become filmmakers. They write their own scripts, shoot their own footage with digital video cameras, and do their own editing.  Their movies have been recognized at the California Student Technology Showcase and the California Student Multi-Media Festival. Her class’s motto, prominently displayed on the wall, says: "Vision does NOT require sight!"
