Many teachers enjoy using digital multimedia resources in their classrooms because they allow students to express themselves in powerful and creative ways that would not be possible using other media. Many of the programs and opportunities that we offer through the Discovery Educator Network are directed at teachers, but our annual DEN Poster Contest is designed for your students. It is time once again to let the creative abilities of your students shine by encouraging them to participate in the 2006 Discovery Educator Network National Poster Contest.
Challenge your students to express their love for learning by creating a digital image that shows how they "Connect to a World of Learning." Questions they may want to consider as they create their original works include:
• What do you enjoy about learning?
• How do you learn?
• Where is the best place to learn?
• How does technology shape the way you learn?
• What inspires you to learn more about the world?
Students are permitted to use digital cameras to take photographs or they may choose other means to create their images such as scanning their original drawings into digital format or creating original works with computer software. Judging will be based on creative expression, technical merit/image quality, and interpretation/relevance to the theme.
Our judges will select two winning images from each grade level range (K-2, 3-5, 6-8, and 9-12) and the student winners will receive special awards. The winning entries will be used in a poster design that will be distributed to thousands of classrooms across the world. Any student of a STAR Discovery Educator is eligible to participate in the 2006 DEN Poster Contest. Below are links to all of the documents and forms you will need to participate:
