As the new year gets underway, it’s time to reflect on the past and look to the future. Technology is constantly changing and as educators we are always looking for tools to enhance our teaching and make life easier.
I’ve decided that this year, I’m going to make a resolution to become an effective podcaster. The technology is here and it’s time I learned how to use it to the best of my ability. Thanks to Dembo and my upcoming webinar training, I will be on my way. I have been reading Will Richardson’s book, Blogs, Wikis, Podcasts, and Other Powerful Web Tools for Classrooms and it is very informative. It’s an easy read and I highly recommend it.
My podcasting goal is to have students create their own podcasts that parents and their peers can enjoy. I would love for them to document their fieldtrips and visits with experts in this format so that they are able to continue learning from their experiences and share that knowledge with others. I feel if students have a way to publish their work, they will perform at a higher level and create a product they are proud of. It no longer becomes just an assignment that they had to do for class. Creating lifelong learners is always my goal and I think podcasting is going to be a great resource for me and my students.
So my question to you is… What is your technology resolution for 2007 and how will it enhance your teaching?
