The Ultimate Gift

"Education is a lifelong journey whose destination expands as you travel." – The Gift of Learning

Jannita sent us the link to the companion site for a new movie set for release in 5 days, The Ultimate Gift.

Here is a brief synopsis of the film:

When his wealthy grandfather dies, trust fund baby Jason Stevens anticipates a big inheritance. Instead, his grandfather has devised a crash course on life with twelve tasks – or “gifts” – designed to challenge Jason in improbable ways, sending him on a journey of self-discovery and forcing him to determine what is most important in life: money or happiness.

The movie was inspired by the book bearing the same name.  The book is based on the inspirational reflections of the author, Jim Stovall.  Jim’s life story is an object lesson in motivation.  His amazing successes – champion Olympic weightlifter, successful investment broker, entrepreneur, author, co-founder and president of the Narrative Television Network, motivational speaker – are made more so by the fact that he has accomplished all while blind.

"Good doesn’t just happen.  It grows person by person."

A few years back, a little book started something very big. A message that has already prompted people to give to others, connect with friends and family, and help those in need like never before. Every one of us has powerful gifts to share, now we all have the added inspiration, resources and opportunities of a full-fledged movement. Each day, the momentum grows and the impact widens, as The Ultimate Gift continues to inspire thousands, if not millions, of others to share the gift and change the world.

March 9, 10, and 11 have been set aside as the weekend of giving.  With each purchase of a ticket opening weekend, $1 will be donated to various charities through a partnership with the

Help us give teens the ultimate gift.

Remember that first moment when you felt the joy and satisfaction of knowing that your actions truly lifted the spirits and even changed the life of someone in need? It may have been as simple as donating food, or handing out meals on Thanksgiving, but it’s an experience you’ll never forget.

That’s the kind of life-changing moment we want thousands of teens to experience in the next few weeks. It’s all part of an engaging initiative called Show Of Hands that was inspired by The Ultimate Gift and created by Once Upon A Family®. Show Of Hands is the first true hands-on — and hands-up! — initiative for connecting youth with the charities they want to support and the tools they need to do so. See just how uplifting giving can be for our youth by visiting and telling others about the official Show Of Hands website.

So, gather a few friends together and go see the movie opening weekend and be sure to visit the web site to be sure that your donation helps to make a difference.

California DENer, Megan Kitt, set up an Ultimate Gift charitable donation organization through the Fox Film Fund.  All proceeds will benefit St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.  The code is 500042.  If you purchase a ticket during opening weekend, enter that code at FoxFilmFund.com.
