The Results are In . . .

The TEA has released summary results of the TAKS testing for this year.  You can read some of the details in this Dallas News article.  According to the article, 16% of Texas seniors will not graduate this year.  This is up from 13% last year.  There is a lot of interesting information in the article, including the results for 7th graders, who are the first group of Texas students to have had to pass their 3rd and 5th grade tests in order to promote.  They scored fairly well, which may indicate the results of the high-stakes testing they’ve been subject to during their school experience.  As educators, we all have our own beliefs about TAKS testing.  Post your comments about TAKS, end-of-course exams, this years results, and standardized testing in general.
