A Biome to Call Home

Over the past three weeks, the 7th and 8th grade students at our school have been studying the characteristics, climates, and critters of Earth’s terrestrial and aquatic biomes. As with our previous genetics unit, the students used the interactive tutorials to gather facts and ideas to create their own biome projects. The students enjoyed the Ocean Ecosystems simulation, Breathing Underwater, and A Biome to Call Home activities we explored during our study. I heard comments like, “I like dragging these over! I got them all right!” and “Mrs. Porter these fish are going crazy at high temperatures!” My students also used the Biome, Sweet Biome article as the main source of information on the various biome locations. What a fantastic resource! I am constantly amazed at what I can find on DESC to enrich my curriculum! J
