If you applied to attend the DEN National Institute on July 13-17, 2009 at the Headlands Institute in the Golden Gate National Recreation Area you should have received an email notification yesterday.
We received a lot of great applications this year – many more than we were able to accept. Each application went through a blind review process and was scored by six different members of the DEN team. We have initially accepted 75 applicants and the rest have been placed on a waiting list.
We will start contacting wait-listed applicants on April 27 should spots become available.
For those of you who have been accepted and have questions, here are a few answers to the big ones. Once we have a confirmed list (after the RSVP window closes on April 24) all attendees will receive more information. But for now here are the top five questions (with answers)I received last night…
1) How much does room and board cost?
A: We cover the cost of room and board and networking and fun. Attendees are responsible for all travel to and from the institute.
2) How do we get from the airport to the site of the institute?
A: There are a variety of taxi/shuttle options and we will provide all attendees with more information once we have a near-complete list (after the RSVP window closes). This way you can coordinate travel from the airport with one or more other attendees.
3) If I pay for my own lodging can I stay offsite and drive in each day?
A: No. Trust us. The overall experience of the institutes has so much to do with the jam-packed schedule and networking with your peers.
4) What will I need to prepare in terms of my presentation(s)?
A: We will provide you with plenty of time to collaborate on the overall schedule of the institute once the RSVP window closes. Don’t stress 🙂
5) I am so excited, who can I thank?
A: Please send all thank yous, cash, checks and other donations to me. I’ll make sure they get evenly distributed across the DEN team. Just kidding (about the sharing part).
