Tackling Test Stress Tip 10: Focus

Although there is a lot of pressure to do well on a test in order to get a good grade, one of the best ways to do that is to focus on answering each question, not on the grade. This focus can also help minimize stress by helping students attend to small bites instead of being overwhelmed by a lengthy task. There’s an old saying “You can eat an elephant – one bite at a time.” Although I don’t recommend eating an elephant, the saying is pretty good for encouraging students to focus on answering each question and not on their grade.
