Seeing Karen’s blog post last week reminded me that I have not formally introduced myself to the DEN Community! My name is Kyle Schutt and I am an Account Manager for Assessment. I’m excited to say that I’m based out of Discovery’s Headquarters in Silver Spring, where I will be learning alongside so many of Discovery’s other knowledgeable and talented employees.
My professional career began in the 3rd Grade, where I cotaught with a Special Education teacher in Southeastern Pennsylvania. Some of my fond memories include developing Professional Learning Communities throughout the district, supporting the reculturing of our school in order to successfully implement a Pyramid Response to Intervention (PRTI) Process, building a district-wide glossary of assessment terms, and providing Professional Development workshops. I was also a DEN STAR who strove to integrate technology into every aspect of my instructional day.
Before joining Discovery I lived in Raleigh, North Carolina where I joined a SMART Technologies reseller, ClarkPowell. I attended conferences and provided professional development workshops throughout North and South Carolina. I also earned my SMART Certifications as an Education Consultant and Trainer.
In my new role, I can’t wait to work with school districts to become better data-informed decision makers as we strive to meet the needs of all students. Formative assessment is a topic I love learning about, so implementing these research-based best practices into the 21st Century classroom will be a blast.
On a personal note, I love spending time with my wife, Lisa, and our new puppy. Some of my other favorites include traveling, reading, snow skiing, mountain biking, cycling, climbing, and pretty much any outdoor activity possible! One of the craziest and most invigorating times of my life was skydiving over the Great Salt Lake.
I can be found most places on the web as “ktschutt”, and my website is http://mrschutt.wikispaces.com Please feel free to reach out, say hello, and introduce yourself!
