DEN LC’s are enjoying a busy week with “Discovering” new ways of sharing in education. Evelyn McFadden and Karen Wells are representing the Arkansas Leadership Council. They started off their week with a three hour session of FIZZ. No, it wasn’t a carbonated drink…but it was an active session with the unpredictable Dr. Lodge McCammon. They actively learned about user-created videos in the classroom and came up with their own creations.
By the way Lodge is a talented musician, and has written a number of songs for teaching tough skills like adding negative numbers and the Bill of Rights. Thirty-seven of his tunes have been added to Discovery Education’s library. (Just search for Lodge and narrow by clicking “songs” on the left side bar.)
Next the group boarded trolleys and headed into Boston where they explored the beautiful city’s architecture and history before going to Fablevision for dinner. The group met Peter Reynolds, children’s book author and founder of Fablevision. He shared the story of his latest book Rose’s Garden, and each person received a copy. Peter then visited with everyone and personalized their books.
All of this was just the first day! Can’t wait to hear more.
