Forty science educators from all over the U.S. have convened at the world headquarters of Discovery Communications for our annual DEN Science Institute. Throughout the week our special guests will focus on two things: professional development and networking. To that end, the festivities kicked off last night with a networking activity where we made our own tie-dyed name tags (thanks, Patti Duncan and Jannita Demian for the great idea!) using food coloring, shaving cream and a lot of paper towels. On the professional development side, our opening presentation was “Going Digital” with Scott Kinney, Senior VP of Discovery Education.
As I type this day one recap, we are already onto day two as Mike Bryant and Brad Fountain are leading an early morning session of hands-on science activities plus bagels, something we like to call Breakfast Club.
