Highlighting our Newest Discovery STAR Educator

Hi! My name is Richard Daley and just became a DEN STAR Educator!

What school do you work at and what is your role?

I am one of four Technology Mentors for covering 38 schools in our area at School District #2 in New Brunswick, Canada. As a mentor I provide training to students, teachers and administrators to help integrate technology with the goal of delivering curriculum in a more interesting innovative way with a focus on 21st Century strategies. I work in all 38 schools in our district, as well as with the Literacy leads, Numeracy leads and learning specialist.

What is your background?

I have been an educator for 26 years with a background in High School Biology, Chemistry and Technology. This is my 8th year as a technology mentor for District #2 in New Brunswick, Canada.

How does your District use Discovery Education?

We are in the process of implementing this new “Discovery” strategy in five of our schools, three of which will be on a one to one Netbook program.  We have plans to getting all of the teachers and students from these schools on to the site while encouraging teachers to create full lessons and classes.

How do you like to spend your free time?

Most of my free time is spent with my wife and children taking them to their various sporting events, hockey, synchronized swimming, karate, soccer, etc. It keeps me going 7 days a week and I love it!
