Wisconsin DEN & the Apple Store

On Saturday, November 6, approximately 25 DEN and STAR DEN members from across the state attended an incredible Day of Discovery at the Apple Store at the Mayfair Mall  in Milwaukee, WI.  What could be better than a customized workshop uniting The Discovery Educator Network and Apple?

The day started at 8:00 with a delicious breakfast from Panera sponsored by the Discovery Educator Network.  After some networking and introductions, the participants were treated to a personalized iPad session at the Apple store.  An Apple trainer took us step by step through their iPad training programming.  With literally thousands of applications now written for the iPad, this small device can enhance any curricular area.

After the iPad training, participants were shown how they could access Discovery Education on the iPad for free.  And to top it off, they were shown Discovery’s US Geography app.

A special thanks to Wisconsin DEN LC member Cathy Houchin (and her son James who works at the Apple Store) for organizing this event, along with Deb Donley, Toni Heinowski, Malena Koplin and Rita Mortenson, WI DEN Leadership Council Members who assisted in organizing and presenting at this event.

Sorry I missed it! That sounds like it was a blast. They just opened up a new Apple Store in Illinois, may have to suggest that we do something similar here!
