DEN March Madness Elite Eight

The Sweet Sixteen results are in!

In Game 1, Movie Maker/iMovie defeated cloud-based movie editor JayCut (Teach42′s new favorite thing) 59 to 41.

In Game 2, social networking tool Edmodo brought the heat, beating collaborative media space VoiceThread 60 to 40.

Game 3 featured video slideshow creators  Animoto and Photo Peach. Although a powerful competitor (passionately loved by our fearless leader, Lance) Photo Peach seems to just be too new to get the name recognition of Animoto. It appears these newcomers to the field just didn’t have the experience to defeat the established tool. We still think you should go check out this example from Photo Peach.

In Game 4, fancy word cloud creator Tagxedo defeated interactive learning resource creator Magic Studio 74 to 26 in what came to the DEN team as a surprise attack. We predict that with examples like this one,  Magic Studio will get experience and be back for championship contention next year.

Game 5 went into overtime when Blabberize came from behind to steal the win from Voki 52 to 48.

In Game 6 simple website creators Wikispaces and Weebly faced off with Wikispaces taking an early lead and defeating newcomer Weebly 70 to 30.

Game 7 featured powerful zooming presentation tool Prezi vs. amazing poster tool Glogster EDU. Both of these really mashup well with Discovery Education, but Glogster EDU proved to be the favorite, winning 73 to 27.

Finally, Game 8 brought new web-based music mixer ujam vs. the ever powerful Google Earth. Although we think that ujam is a fabulous tool, it was no match for Google Earth who brought it with an 82-18 win.

So, the Elite 8 is underway.

(Showing her weakness in the area of March Madness,) TechyNana innocently asks, “Where are the descriptions from the DE Team?”

    • Steve Dembo

LoL, they’re the descriptions that you see on the site below each tool when you vote.
