Last week marked the DEN Fall Virtual Conference. Educators around the country took part in a free, online professional development opportunity. In Muskego, Wisconsin, the Wisconsin DEN LC team put on a great in-person event in conjunction with the VC.
Karie Huttner, one of the Wisconsin DEN LC members, shares a little about the event and some of the sessions she attended below.
In full possession of the technology game, iPads are taking DE to another level. Starting the line-up, Karie Huttner shared resources that she is using with elementary students. Screenchomp can take the powerful images of DE and give students the opportunity to share what they know. Using this sample lesson, participants had the opportunity to learn the process of taking an image from DE and creating a short video using Screenchomp. Check out Discovery Images goes iPad for the sample lesson.
Tech or Treat Packer Style – Second Touchdown
In a successful drive down the field, Peg Hartwig showed how STEM is taken to a new level with the integration of math and science concepts. Her wiki showcases amazing work by students that has gone international. Integrating green screen and stop action like JellyCam, students explain difficult science concepts and how they connect to math. In her hands-on session, Peg challenged participants to look at science and math instruction as two key areas that should support each other. Check out the best of show.
