Hello World! My name is Chad Lehman (@imcguy) and I am truly thrilled to be one of the newest members of the Discovery Education team. My official title will be DEN Community Manager. I will be helping to support and grow the DEN community by helping organize our wide range of virtual and in-person events. I will also be assisting with the expansion of our DEN social media channels to facilitate conversations between DEN members. As part of my first days on the job I am working on a special project to assess ways that we can better support new STARs and connect them to the larger community.
Prior to joining Discovery Education, I spent almost fifteen years in elementary education. I started out my teaching career as a third grade teacher and eventually switched positions after eight years in the classroom. After leaving the classroom, I spent the last six years as an elementary library media specialist. While I certainly will miss the students I worked with and the staff members at my former school, the opportunity to join the Discovery Education team was something I could not pass up.
I’ve always had an interest in educational technology, learning, and sharing. These interests are similar to most members of the DEN, some of whom I’ve gotten to know over the past few years at various DEN events while I served as a member of the Wisconsin Leadership Council. The DEN is a spectacular group of knowledgeable, fun, and creative learners. Not only am I excited about working with members of the DEN, but joining a team with Lance Rougeux, Porter Palmer, and Steve Dembo is going to be both challenging and educational.
Outside of work, much of my time is spent with my family. When I’m not taking my children to their activities, I can usually be found doing one of two things – spending time online or watching/playing/reading about sports. I like to play basketball, golf, and softball and while it’s not necessarily a sport, getting out on my Harley-Davidson motorcycle is also something I can’t get enough of.
I’m looking forward to connecting with educators around the globe and am happy to be a part of Discovery Education!
