On November 7, 2011, I accompanied DEN Account Manager Max Brooks to Anne Arundel County to meet with administrators and teachers and show them how Discovery Education Streaming can be integrated in the classroom.
The turnout was huge and the one thing that stuck out to me while Max was presenting were the gasps and excited expressions emanating from the teachers as they found out that there is so much more to the Streaming site than just videos. Numerous teachers sitting near me were more than excited to find out that they can access games, pictures, and writing prompts on the site itself. I distinctly remember a teacher marveling at the comprehensive theme pages that we have on the site. Here’s a quick peek at one of the many theme pages we have on our Discovery Education site.
Max did an excellent job of introducing the builder tools and giving teachers ideas on how to seamlessly integrate the site’s resources into their lesson plans and activities. In a sense, the teachers at the event were the students and Max was the teacher inviting them to participate in sample activities that could be utilized in the classroom. Everything was light-hearted and the teachers seemed to be excited that they have such a comprehensive resource at the tip of their fingers. Max also encouraged the teachers to take advantage of the DEN resources and they seemed absolutely thrilled that a whole network of teachers is also there to support them.
All in all, it was a greatly informative day and I came away with a deeper appreciation for all the teachers out there who continue to help their students advance and grow!
