DR. MARTIN LUTHER KING JR. – The Man, The Life, The Legacy

Everyone knows Dr. King’s birthday is an observed Federal Holiday where the government and schools are closed. Hooray for a day off! – But what was it about this man that made him deserving of a Federal Holiday in his name?

Dr. King was an extraordinary leader. His styles of non-violent/peaceful protesting lead the civil rights movement for African Americans during the 1950’s – 1960’s.

DID YOU KNOW?

Dr. King is the first African American honored with a memorial on or near the National Mall and only the 4th non-President to be memorialized in such a way.
