Call it an idea exchange, a virtual pinboard, or a scrapbook, Pinterest has reached the Top 10 in Social Networking sites in about a month. I received a beta invite and in under an hour had an amazing number of followers. What I like about it: ease of use. It’s fast, fun, and utterly intuitive and highly social. If you are not pinteresting or using the Pin It bookmarklet, you are missing out on, well, frankly–a lot.
Pinterest “goodies” abound. The app is on Facebook and available for iPhones. Drag the bookmarklet to your browser’s toolbar and you are a click away from adding to your boards. I like the functionality of the follow buttons for websites. The site also enables direct posts to blogs, so the tool, in my book, has everything I am looking for.
Best of all, Pinterest gives you the best of both worlds. You see images that when clicked lead to a website, but you can add descriptive text. In full url view of a board, you see both. Very cool tool.
Not that I think you’ll need it, but just in case, here’s a good tutorial from the folks at Pinterest. Enjoy!
