Common Core Resources For Educators

For many educators, the Common Core State Standards (CCSS) represent a significant shift from the standards and curriculum to which they are accustomed. That being said, there is a need for collections of resources that can help keep you up to date as the CCSS develop and are implemented. I would like to thank Chris Meador, of Discovery Education Assessment for pouring through some of these resources in an effort to do just that. His collection of documents identify some of the key features of the CCSS in English Language Arts and Mathematics, and describes how the interim benchmark tests from Discovery Education have been developed specifically to address them. They also provide some links to valuable resoures that document, unpack or provide strategies for implementing the standards. They are available on mediashare at http://player.discoveryeducation.com/index.cfm?guidAssetId=C0446D7D-A537-7E76-2BFA-D099257C61B3&productCode=DEMS, or individually for non-mediashare subscribers at http://bit.ly/w3MeAq, and http://bit.ly/xtwnqZ.

In order to adequately support student learning by integrating the Standards, educators need more than workshops to provide them with training that works to help them integrate the Standards. They need to see what integration really looks like in the classroom.
