CAST “is an educational research & development organization that works to expand learning opportunities for all individuals through Universal Design for Learning. UDL is a set of principles for curriculum development that give all individuals equal opportunities to learn. UDL provides a blueprint for creating instructional goals, methods, materials, and assessments that work for everyone–not a single, one-size-fits-all solution but rather flexible approaches that can be customized and adjusted for individual needs.”
The CAST website has a free “Book Builder” resource where you can create, share, publish and read digital books. “Terry’s Tips” is a character that is readily available to help you write text, choose images, add audio clips and glossary terms, and develop supports for coaches. You can read your completed books online, download them, print them, share them with others. You can even publish them to the public library.
This site, which is supported by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary & Secondary Education, the NEC Foundation of America, The John W. Alden Trust, and The Pinkerton Foundation, contains a ton of support documents, audio tips and prompts, and so much more. Have fun!
