We are pretty lucky to be living in Maryland. As they say in real estate it is all about, “location, location, location.” The geography of the state itself is fantastic with the mountains, the ocean, and of course the bay. Being in the mid-Atlantic makes it convenient to take all sorts of day trips up and down the coast. Gas prices are rising every week, so now is the time to take advantage of the lucky location of Maryland.
In effort to have some fun this Spring Break without spending a lot, I headed to U.S. Botanic Garden in Washington, D.C. with a friend and fellow DEN Star Angela Batten. To save money and to maintain low stress levels, we hopped on the Orange Line of the Metro to Federal Center SW. It was a only a couple of minutes walking in lovely spring weather before the cameras were out trying to capture the beauty of so many plants and flowers.
The photography trip became a learning experience too. As we roamed the outside gardens and the inside habitats there were signs posted with QR codes. These codes would link to audio recording about regional plants, climate, and more.
Right now the Botanic Garden has a wonderful Orchid exhibit. It was amazing how many different types of orchids there are on earth. The exhibit was amazing for the senses! Whether you have a point-n-shoot, a DSLR, or a Smartphone, this location was perfect way to spend an afternoon creating the perfect shot.
