My first ever Discovery Education Network Summer Institute is coming to a close. I have made some amazing connections, learned a ton of new things, and have a plethora of ideas that I am going to try next year. There have been a ton of amazing blogs that have already been posted, so I don’t want to rehash everything.
Elaine Plybon and I set out on a mission on Tuesday July 17, and what an adventure it has been!
We started out in Irving, Texas. We then spent 4 days in Wichita, Kansas for Podstock and then flew to Montana for DENSI. My brain is on official overload!
My top 3 to try out next year:
-http://popplet.com/ – this came out of Karen’s session. I have SO many ideas for using this in my classroom. ie: maps of the school, describing the parts of a flower, or even doing an about me for the students.
-From the un-conference session for special education I found out about the app Kid Journal. Thanks Anne for sharing this one! One of my goals for next year is to do a picture a day, and this app is going to be the PERFECT one for my classroom! You can have multiple users and you can even export into different forms such as an iBook. LOVE!
-I loved Tim Childer’s idea for 1 photo storytelling. I already use photostory a ton in my classroom, so this session gave me some new ideas.
Did I learn more than 3 things? Of COURSE I did! I am so thankful for such an awesome opportunity? Did you go to DENSI2012? What were your 3 take aways? Did you participate in DENSI2012 virtually? What were your favorite things shared?
