Discovery’s Shark Week began August 12, 2012 at 9:00pm EST! Discovery Headquarters in Silver Spring, Maryland welcomed back Chompie, the inflatable shark, to celebrate the 25 year long run of shark programming on the network.
Employees at Discovery Headquarters were also treated to some Shark-themed fun freebies last Thursday. Employees had an opportunity to get airbrushed shark tattoos, get fun “fin” hairdos, and there was even a dunk-tank to sink your favorite interns!
Now it’s time to get your students excited about Shark Week. Discovery Education’s Back to School updates have simplified Content Collections which offer teacher guides, video clips and so much more easily accessible through Search.
Search for keyword “Shark” to quickly pull up the related Content Collection. The Content Collection feature can be a great starting point to sift through all of the great materials available about sharks, as well as hundreds of other collections from holidays to current events, like the 2011 Japan Earthquake. If you do a keyword search that has a Content Collection related to it, the Content Collection will be the first search result.
