Day of Discovery in Groton, CT – coming SOON!

A couple of weeks ago I had the distinct pleasure of meeting with a number of other members of the CT Leadership Council at a get-together hosted by Whitney Mihoulides. At the meeting, it was announced that there would be a face-to-face, Day of Discovery, free professional development event to be held this fall on Saturday, September 22, 2012 at Fitch Senior High School in Groton, CT. The event will take place from 8:30 AM until 3:30 PM, with registration closing at 9:00AM. A lovely continental breakfast and luncheon will be provided, free of charge. Here is a direct quotation from the registration page, “Designed specifically for area educators, this interactive day of free professional development will showcase creative ways to motivate your students and transform your lessons using the latest innovations in teaching. We will also be diving into the Discovery Education platform enhancements and content additions for back-to-school, so you can learn more about how we’re going mobile, social, and adding even more functionality for you and your students.” In addition, you will be able to attend multiple sessions, win prizes, and get a certificate of attendance that you may be able to get your district to recognize for CEU credit.

Sadly, due to a previous commitment, I will be unable to be at this event in person, although my spirit will be there. I have attended many Days of Discovery over the past couple of years, and they have always been exciting and rewarding. You can learn so much about how to improve your utilization of your Discovery Education subscription. However, it goes way beyond that. It is truly a DEevent! You notice that I put Bold on the N – because that is what it is really all about. It is a chance to network with other educators from all around the area and share the excitement of what you’ve been doing for your students and what they’ve been doing for theirs to enhance the love of learning. I highly recommend that many of you sign up for what should be an extremely fun day. Besides that, Groton is right on the shorline, and I’m sure there will be many  wonderful restaurants near-by where you can celebrate your exciting day of leaning and connecting.

Hope to see you at another event:) Carolyn
