On Saturday, October 20, the DEN hosted an in-person event for the Fall Virtual Conference at Morehead STEM Academy in Charlotte. Over 60 educators from across Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools gave up their Saturday to join us for a jam packed day of learning. We began with a quick welcome and introduction followed by the opening virtual keynote “10 Common Challenges We All Face” delivered by Richard Byrne. The keynote was a huge hit as everyone walked away with pages of notes filled with helpful resources, tools and strategies.
Participants had the opportunity to chose from virtual and in-person sessions over the course of the day. DEN STAR Lindsey Cozat-Sipe was a rockstar in helping to plan the event and even led a breakout session on green screening. There was a lot of excitement over lunch about all of the things they were learning, and the momentum continued through the afternoon. We ended the day with a Paper Slide Video activity where they shared what they had learned. All of the pictures and videos from this event can be found HERE.
I would like to thank Lindsey and Morehead STEM Academy for their amazing hospitality and help to pull off a successful Virtual Conference for CMS. A huge thank you to the virtual presenters who spent countless hours perfecting their presentations over the past few weeks. Lastly I would like to thank the CMS educators who gave up their free time and gave us their full attention as we overwhelmed them with information.
It’s clear that the day was a success, and it was SO much fun spending they day with educators passionate about transforming teaching and learning.
