The Appalachian Highlands Science Learning Center is currently recruiting for rising 8th grade girls to attend the our summer Girls in Science camp. The camp will be held the week of June 10-15, 2013 at the Great Smoky Mountains Institute at Tremont. Now in it’s 5th year, this camp gives girls the opportunity to explore the Smokies in a safe and supportive environment. They will get involved with real research and interact with female scientists who study some of the amazing creatures in the Smokies. They will travel to locations throughout the park to interact with butterflies, salamanders, snails while enjoying phenomenal views, hiking shady mountain trails and swimming in our glorious streams.
There is an application fee of $50 but all other costs are covered by a generous grant from the Alcoa Foundation. Applications and registration information are available at http://www.gsmit.org/
