Happy Mousey Monday once again from Mousey and the Discovery Education Support team to our Cache and Cookies readers! As National Black History Month draws to a close, Mousey wanted to bring to your attention several resources to share with your students in the classroom in honor of this month.
Black History Month, also known as African-American History Month, is celebrated every February in the United States and Canada, and every October in the United Kingdom. The month is for remembering the historic figures, events and movements of people and descendants from Africa. The tradition began in the United States in 1926 with Black History Week and in 1976, the tradition was extended to what is today known as the Black History Month.
Discovery Education streaming users have access to the Black History Month Content Collection. Aside from the obvious inclusion of Martin Luther King videos, this Content Collection includes other interesting resources such as a video on The Integration of Major League Baseball.
