DEN March Madness – Entry #14 – Puppet Pals app

Puppet Pals is our latest entry in DEN March Madness.  Texas STAR Kass Bates is doing great things with the Puppet Pals, a FREE app.  Kass thinks this is a great app to use for storytelling, sharing information, or even for assessment. Students can use pictures they take or images that have been downloaded and bring them to life with movement. There is a cropping tool so characters or images of the students can be cut out and manipulated to be a part of the story. It would be a great way to use Discovery Education images! When students create a written script before production is becomes a purposeful writing tool as well.

She recently used it with a first grade classroom, confirming it is easy to use with even your youngest learners. When she used it, students were sharing all the information they had learned about polar bears. They were so motivated and couldn’t wait to share their creations with their classmates and parents!

Take a look at this wiki for an example of how it was used with second graders. Their entry took first place in a district Penguin Palooza Festival under the animation category.
