Help Judge the Discovery Education 3M Young Scientist Challenge

Discovery Education is seeking judges to review video entries for the Discovery Education 3M Young Scientist Challenge. The Young Scientist Challenge is the premier national science competition for students in grades 5-8. The competition is designed to encourage the exploration of science and innovation among America’s youth. Finalists will work side-by-side with 3M scientists on summer projects as they compete for more than $25K in cash and prizes.

Middle school students were asked to create a 1-2 minute video explaining a NEW innovation or solution that could solve an everyday problem. They were given specific parameters in which to tailor their invention, related to the following topics: How We Live, How We Work or How We Play.

Judges will be asked to evaluate each video based on a rubric, specifically: creativity, scientific knowledge, persuasiveness/effective communication and overall presentation.

Judging will occur from May 7 – May 19 and we would only need a few hours of your time. And of course we’ll have a special thank you and professional development certificate for those taking part in our judging!
