Techbook Times: Common Core Corner

We are often asked, “does Techbook have Common Core”? To understand the answer to this, one must first understand what is meant by “Common Core”.  Common Core is not a curriculum but rather a set of standards to guide the inclusion of literacy and/or math in our science and social studies lessons.
So, when someone asks, “does Techbook meet the Common Core State Standards Initiative for Literacy in History/Social Studies, Science and Technical Subjects”?   The answer is an emphatic “Of Course!”
In the coming editions of Techbook Times we will explore the Common Core Standards for Literacy and identify how Techbook effectively meets these standards.
Let’s start with the first standard: CCSS.ELA-Literacy.RST.6-8.1 Cite specific textual evidence to support analysis of science and technical texts. What is this standard asking of a student?
How does Techbook support this standard?  Share with us your thoughts and examples. I will share my thoughts on this next week.
