SC DEN News and Smore.com

The SC DEN has been using Smore.com to create a monthly newsletter for our state STARS.

If you haven’t seen our newsletter, check out this month’s issue: SC DEN NEWS: Summer 2013.

We have found Smore to be the perfect platform for our newsletter for several reasons:

-It is FREE
-We can collaborate on the creation.
-Some media such as YouTube videos can be embedded.
-Smore emails the visual newsletter to up to 1,000 of our supplied recipients for FREE each month.
-We can also share our newsletter by social media- Facebook, Twitter, Google+, and Pinterest- and our readers can share on their social media accounts, too.
-Smores are embeddable (although the embed code did not work in WordPress).

Not only is Smore a great tool for us as educators, it can be used by students to create content posters too.  Another similar tool is Tackk.com.  Explore these great tools to use in the classroom.  You may just find a new way to create your classroom newsletter in the next school year!

I love yur SC flyer/newsletter. I couldn’t find any information about a free account. I did find info about an educator account for $59 after a free 30 day trial. Do you have any info on what limitations there are with the free S’more accounts? Thanks!

We just use the plain ‘ole FREE version of Smore- not the educator’s account. It works just fine for us! The FREE version does have Smore branding on it and when you view our newsletter you do get previews of other newsletters on the side, but that doesn’t bother us.
