Happy Mousey Monday to our Cache and Cookie readers! Three more days till the Fourth of July, also known as Independence Day in the United States!

This federal holiday commemorates the adoption of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776, declaring independence from the Kingdom of Britain. The declaration was prepared by a Committee of Five, with Thomas Jefferson as the primary author. The declaration was finally approved by Congress on July 4, hence the chosen date of the federal holiday.

Discovery Education streaming users can share with their students and children the 31 minute full video, The Journey of the One and Only Declaration of Independence. The video explains the document and its significance to the United States. This video is targeted for students in grades K-5.
