DEN Gone Country Mini Institute Sept. 20-22 Nashville, TN

Nashville is not only the home, but the capitol of Country Music.  Music Row and the surrounding streets and avenues have some of the most exciting music and fantastic history of any place in the United States.

The DEN Gone Country event will be held in Nashville, TN, from Friday, September 20th, to Sunday, September 22nd.  Included in the event will be the following:

  • Friday evening we will cruise down the Tennessee River onboard the General Jackson.  This 3-hour dinner cruise will be at no cost to attendees.  (You will need to arrive in Nashville early enough to make the 7PM launch time).
  • Saturday will be spent at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum.  We will engage in Professional Development that includes time spent with a Nashville songwriter for half a day and a fiddle player for the other half of the day.  This training is tied to Common Core Standards.  All participants will leave with a full curriculum to take back to their classroom, school, or district.  (Lunch is on your own).
  • Saturday evening will be spent learning to line dance!  We’ll hit a local establishment for dinner, dancing, and DENny stuff.  (Dinner is at the expense of the attendee).
  • Sunday morning we will tie it all together with DE Streaming.  Currently, we are planning on meeting at the downtown branch of the Nashville Library.  We will finish at noon-ish!

If you are selected to attend, travel and lodging costs will be at your expense.  Once we have a list of attendees, we’ll begin to help you select roommates at the hotel in order to defray those costs for you.

In order to apply, we need you to complete the wufoo form listed below.  This is an application only.  You will be notified by August 15th of your acceptance.  So, don’t make any plans until then!

Oh!  One more thing!  While it is not necessary, we will give your application extra credit points (yeah, just like in your classroom) if you pair up and bring another DEN Star from your state with you!
