A note from DEN Guru Rita Mortenson:
Welcome Back to Another Great Year with Discovery Education and the DEN!
With the start of each new school year, there are so many goals I have and projects that I want to share, not only with my students but with my DEN Community. I have enjoyed staying connected throughout the summer, reading all the tweets and inspiring blog posts, and have appreciated the time people have put into sharing out these ideas. Thank you! Now, I am ready to roll up my sleeves and begin the new school year and try out a few of the suggestions from my DEN friends.
One goal that I have set for myself is to continue to stay connected with the DEN and try something new related to technology once a week. I feel that this is a very doable goal with all the wonderful ideas and suggestions my DEN community provides. For instance, this past week, I learned how to do time lapse photography for our large group senior photo, based on some ideas and tips and tricks from the community. The information and ideas on twitter and other social media networks provides enough new ideas for me to try each day – but I realize I need to pace myself so trying something once a week is what I hope to do.
Speaking of trying a few new things, I wanted to invite everyone to our first “What’s the 4-1-1” event featuring “The Teacher’s Back to School Emergency Preparedness Kit”. I will be sharing several resources that will prepare you for a digitally transformative year with your students and teachers. In addition, I will share some strategies, websites and tools that are sure to help you get your school year off to a great start. In this fast paced session, I will cover everything from Discovery tips and tricks, to how you can stay connected and informed – all while having a fun, invigorating year! Make it your best year ever with the help of Discovery.
