Siemens We Can Change the World Challenge

Happy Thursday Cache and Cookies readers!! Just checking in to update everyone on the current happenings around Discovery Education!

*NEWSFLASH* September has been renamed STEMtember in support of the Siemens We Can Change the World Challenge!

The Siemens We Can Change the World Challenge is a new age type of science fair. This isn’t a typical styrofoam solar system and paper mache volcano science fair. This science competition focuses on solving real world problems in communities by giving kids an opportunity to design and carry out an experiment. The Siemens We Can Change the World Challenge is a science fair with a green spin.

Just like a normal science fair, students will research a topic, formulate a hypothesis, and test it. However, the topics students focus on are centered on environmental issues that are affecting their community. As part of the competition, students must also develop a plan for how others can repeat the experiment in their own communities. This provides communities with new, innovative ways to boost conversation and sustainability, while still providing students with the chance to develop and carry out experiments.
