Board Builder – Now Available for Teachers

The wait is over! Board Builder, the exciting tool for users to create multimedia posters, is now available for teachers.  This great tool, available for students for a while now, is ready for you to explore even more.  Create posters and projects that include text, photos, and video!  The great part of Board Builder is the seamless transition with content from Discovery Education. However, users can also upload their own content, including video and images from other sources. Board Builder can be used in a variety of ways – in fact, we previously shared 50 ways to use Board Builder in your classroom.

To access Board Builder from your account, click on the Builder Tools drop down menu. You will then be taken to the Builder Tools page where you can create a new board or view any previous boards you’ve created.

Hurrah! I am so glad the board builder is here for teachers to use. I think it will be a great tool for teachers. It can be used for centers, differentiating and much more. Thank you Discovery.

Is there a way for students to share boards outside of the DE site? Like with parents or to embed them in other sites?

  5. Chad Lehman

Carrie, embedding is not available at this time. The best way for the students to share their work with their parents is to log in at home and share that way.

Hi, I had my students create a board and share it with me. I went in and approved the boards for sharing but don’t see where the boards are being shared. How do students view the shared boards of their classmates? I approved the boards to be shared with the school but don’t see a school area on the student side.
    Thanks!

Hi Michelle, Logged in as yourself, go to Classroom Manager > Student Boards. Find the specific shared Board, and click View Board.

Logged in as the student, go to Board Builder, find the specific Board and click on it.

Nearly every asset in Discovery Education has a “plus” and a triangle pointing down right beside the name. The “plus” will add it to your quick list. That triangle will allow you to share the link, save to favorites (My Content), and add things to an assignment.

If you have approved the Board for sharing, students can grab the link and send to friends, or invite their classmates to search in Discovery Education to find them.

Hello. I created a board that I have assigned to my students. Other teachers would like to view and possibly assign it to their students. I have “shared’ it to my school but we aren’t sure how to pull it up on their account or how I can share another way. Thank you!

To those wondering how to share the link with other teachers/parents/people: If you go to “My Content” tab at the top of your DE dashboard, it will take you to all of your content. Your boards should be located there. On the right hand side, there is a blue “Actions” tab with a drop down menu. If you click the tab, then click “share” it will give you a link. Copy that link and send the link to whomever you want to share with. Hope that helps!!
