Mousey Monday – Veterans Day

Happy Mousey Monday to our Cache and Cookies readers! More importantly, happy Veterans Day!

Veterans Day is an official federal holiday in the United States that honors those who have served in armed service, known as veterans. The day was originally called Armistice Day, commemorating the armistice signed which symbolized the end of World War I. It was in 1954 that the holiday was rededicated to honor all American veterans.

If you would like a little more guidance on how to use these resources, feel free to take a look at our Teacher Guides for all grades under the Materials tab.

Discovery Education also has a great, short 4 minute video segment on how the day is celebrated in different ways.

We here at Discovery Education want to honor and thank our veterans for all that they do for our country. We hope these resources help your students understand the significance of this day.
