Happy Mousey Monday to our Cache and Cookies readers! Discovery Education and the Healthy Weight Commitment Foundation are currently running the Find Your Balance Challenge!

Find Your Balance Challenge is open to elementary school classrooms in grades K-5 and rewards student teams for taking steps toward achieving Energy Balance in their own school communities.

Teachers and student teams are asked to complete these 3 Steps:

  • Step 1: Identify Energy Balance needs at their school from both sides of the Energy Balance scale (food and physical activity).
  • Step 2: Write a goal statement and an action plan to help meet or address those needs.
  • Step 3: Describe your vision for addressing long term change for your school’s Energy Balance needs.

Prizes

The Grand Prize winning team will receive cash and prizes with a total value of $30,000 to be used to improve their schools wellness program. Plus, the teacher/mentor of the grand prize winning team will receive a 5 night stay in a 2 bedroom suite at a CLUB WYNDHAM resort. The Second Place winning team will receive a $10,000 grant, and the Third Place winning team will receive a $5,000 grant.

Important Dates

The deadline for applications is January 31, 2014 at 8pm EST.

Judging will begin on or about February 1, 2014.

The teacher/mentors of the winning classes will be notified beginning on or about April 1, 2014.
