Tonight from 7-8pm CDT, Discovery Education and Girls Inc are partnering up to host “An Evening of Women Inspiring Girls,” an event aimed at increasing an interest in STEM subjects and careers amongst young women. In celebration of Women’s History Month, the evening will include inspirational activities fornearly 150 local, underserved middle school girls. During an interactive “STEM Camp,” the young women will be inspired to get involved in STEM through hands-on stations that have everything from green screens to nano icecream. Girls will document their discoveries in a personalized passport, while enjoying a “STEM is MAGIC” show and sing-along with Dr. Lodge McCammon, an educational pioneer and studio composer who writes standards-based songs about advanced curriculum for K-12 classrooms.
The event will feature Patti Duncan, Cindy Moss, representatives from Girls Inc. of metropolitan Dallas and more than 150 local middle school students. The DiscoveryEd STEM camp is free (registration required), and a VIP Experience is available for $25.
