DEN Geocaching Day – May 17, 2014

Geocaching Day logo.jpgAre you interested in exploring the great outdoors with friends? Are you interested in gathering with fellow DEN members? Are you interested in going on a hi-tech treasure hunt?

If you answered yes to any or all of these questions, you should participating in DEN Geocaching Day on Saturday, May 17th. Geocaching is a free, real-world outdoor treasure hunt. When you go geocaching, you try to locate hidden containers, called geocaches, using a smartphone or GPS. When you find one, you can then share your experience with others.

On May 17th,  we encourage every DEN member to get out and have some fun. You could go out on your own to find caches in your area, but a better option would be to host your own geocaching event. The DEN will support your event by sending you an official 2014 DEN Geocaching coin to plant and even send you a some goodies to give to those joining you. You can find resources to help you learn more about geocaching here.

If you’re ready to organize and host an event for DEN Geocaching Day, fill out this form.

If you want to join one of the already organized events, they are listed below.

GREAT urban/rural park with a historic merry go round, a train and a combination of challenging and easy geocaches.

I just learned about the DEN Geocaching Day today through PodCachers podcast. It’s too late for me to host an event this year (Geocaching Guidelines) but would plan to host one next year in my area. Is there a way I can receive advanced notice for next years date?

Had a great outing today. Introduced geocaching to another teacher & her child. Geocaching is about being outdoors having fun with family & friends! It was a beautiful day to hide & seek caches.
