There’s more! …Continue to #CelebratewithDE for National Library Week

We’re still celebrating National Library Week and helping you find some of the best resources we have about the treasures you’ll find in your school’s media center. Libraries transform, so consider an extra visit to your library media center this week and use our content and strategies to make the most of your resources. Tell us about your visit by posting your class’s experience to Twitter with #CelebratewithDE.

Grades K-2, 3-5, 6-8, 9-12, Content Collection

Explore the steps involved in researching a topic and writing about it. When people do research, they start by asking questions about a topic. They read books and articles, visit Web sites, and check other informational sources to try to find facts that answer their questions. Then they write about what they learned in an organized structure.

Resources for Student Exploration
Discovery Education Streaming, Science Techbook, Social Studies Techbook
Grades K-2, 3-5, 6-8, 9-12, Step-by-Step Guides

We created these guides to help students navigate and make the most of their Discovery Education access. The guides help students explore their interests, research a topic in Discovery Education, organize evidence and cite sources, study and review new learning, and communicate their ideas. Help students find and use media based on both their interests and their course requirements by showing them these guides.

(Canadian Version)

Grades K-2, 3-5, 6-8, 9-12, Instructional Strategy

This teaching strategy is a great way for students to explore resources and filter out what information is most important. Students work collaboratively to research specific topics and identify new knowledge as they create a “25 Things You Didn’t Know” poster. Because students are asked to list new knowledge and not things they already know, this activity encourages deep research and the use of multiple sources.
