Okay, while it wasn’t exactly a “storm” over 100 educators from 39 districts across Kentucky flooded (couldn’t resist) the Muhammad Ali Center in Louisville for a Day of Discovery sponsored by Discovery Education and Kentucky Educational Television.
Participants were invited to attend a series of interactive workshops delivered by Discovery Education staff that explored ways to integrate KET Encyclomedia digital resources into engaging classroom instruction and to differentiate instruction using student data and Discovery Education classroom tools.
Kentucky Educational Television and Discovery Education have revolutionized education in Kentucky by creating KET Encyclomedia … KET Encyclomedia has definitely helped level the learning field for students in Kentucky schools.

Diving into action, 112 educators across four states attended the Shedd Aquarium Day of Discovery in the heart of Chicago. In partnership with the John G. Shedd Aquarium, Discovery Education hosted an all day professional development event free for area educators. The day offered two strands, the integration of digital media for classroom educators and making data driven decisions for administrators attending the event.
The presentations received rave reviews. A special thank you to our presenters: Anne Truger, Meg Ormiston, Steve Dembo, Porter Palmer, Mike Bryant, Tracy Selock, Cathy Houchin, Mary Phillips and John Phillips
” This was a great event! All of the sessions were useful and relevant to teachers of any grade level and subject area. Numerous resources were provided and a variety of tips and strategies were demonstrated by all presenters. The DEN staff and STAR educators were very friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. I would love to go to another event like this!”
- Danielle Guzzarde from East Maine District 63

It’s been awesome to spend time in DeKalb County, Georgia, with the educators from DeKalb County and the surrounding areas. Thanks to all the educators who attended the Day of Discovery for making my first event in Georgia a terrific one! And a HUGE “thank you” to Georgia Public Broadcasting and DeKalb County Schools for sponsoring the day and Arabia Mountain High School for opening its beautiful facility to host the event.
Since the title of my presentation was “Go Green with Discovery Education streaming” I thought it appropriate to post all the resources from my session online instead of printing paper copies for everyone.
All of the DE streaming media assets incorporated into this presentation can be downloaded online and the citation for each is included on the presentation slides.
