How well do you know your Seuss?

February 28th, 2009 · 6 Comments

Linda Zydzik (5th grade LAL) created an enlightening Voicethread that would make Horton, Yertle, and Pop happy!  Can you name the good doctor’s first book?  And where did the surname Seuss come from?  Which Cat illustration do you like best?   While I do not like green eggs and ham, my favorite quotation comes from Oh, the Places You’ll Go

You have brains in your head.

You have feet in your shoes.

You can steer yourself

Any direction you choose.

Please enjoy Linda’s Voicethread and leave your  comment on the  blog. What is your favorite Dr. Seuss book? Trouble seeing the voicethread?  Click on this link http://voicethread.com/share/369618/

DE Movies

Unite black history reports with DE footage and you have the following video.  Dottie Bhatt’s 6th grade class was extremely patient as we searched for footage to match their reports.  In some cases, the tape is more symbolic than literal.  I truly appreciate their help with this movie.  Want to try this project with your class?  Click here for directions.

logo-small.gifAnnenberg has it all!  Investigate their multimedia resources sorted by content area/grade. I’ve complete several of the science and social studies teacher classes and it is home to my favorite internet project- Mystery Class.  Sign up for their monthly newsletters to obtain links to special days. The March edition includes resources for National Grammar Day, Pi Day, Vernal Equinox, World Folk Tales and Gable Week as well as National Women’s History Month.

Are we there yet?

February 27th, 2009 · No Comments

This is the invariable question for anyone who has traveled with children.  This will not be a dilemma for Meredith Scully’s second grade class- for they know elapsed time!  Please enjoy their visual word problems- did you get the correct answer?
